Durham 3rd XV in 2008 BUSA Plate Final Durham Uni 3rd Xv will face Hartpury College in the BUSA Plate final this week, in what should prove to be a very tough encounter at the Racecourse. A large crowd is expected and Durham have trained well in the last week after cutting short their Easter holidays. The 22 man squad include many final year students who are eager to end their Durham playing days on a high, and none more so that than team Captain Geoff Dunnett (Hatfield) who has in the words of the Club President Ted Wood: “Played such a prominent role in the development of Durham rugby and has captained the team with passion and maturity.” Durham also welcome back flanker Josh Hughes who broke his leg in the league encounter with York in January, to strengthen and already formidable back row. Participation in the final is the ultimate reward for the team, who finished top of the BUSA Division 2b and have beaten several first and second teams in both the league, and earlier rounds of the competition.
